We can’t stop time (Pixels movie review)

Pixels (2010) is a short animated movie written by Belgian film director Patrick Jean. Basically Pixels is a mini flick about the world which was invaded by old-school 8-bit video games like Tetris, Pac-Man etc. However, the winner of the Best Short Film at the 2011 Annecy International Animated Film Festival has loads different angles and shades to be interpreted. One could say it is a movie about an uncontrolled influence that video games and modern technologies have on the mass in general, that ultimately will lead to world destruction. Nevertheless, the others can see in Pixels the era that is slowly passing away. The characters were created more than 30 years ago and the nostalgia that filling you up while watching this movie is inexpressible. Current generation will never get it and feel the same way in 20 years later remembering playing GTA. World has changed. People have changed.

Sudden home birth in Newshire went wrong

One of the newborn twin-girls of Megan Townend, a former Miss Oveston United, was delivered to the hospital having a serious health condition.

Leah, the twin number two, remains in the Oveston General Infirmary at present in the special care baby unit since her condition is considered as very dangerous.

Said Mrs Townend: «Leah is a little fighter. She suffered a relapse at the hospital and has breathing difficulties.»

Father Bryan permanently stays nearby their daughter and keeps phoning his wife Megan, who has been allowed home to look after the first twin-girl, with updates.

The Townends, who have been married for two years, have a very worrying time for the family now. Last Wednesday wife Megan went into unexpected labour straight at home at late night. When a first baby began to appear, Bryan, someone who once fainted at the sight of his own blood, could do nothing but to deliver the baby on his own.

«I was actually on the phone calling for an ambulance when a baby began to appear. I had no choice but to help Megan – but I was glad when the paramedics arrived,» said Bryan.

Newshire Ambulance Service had been consulting Bryan through the phone while the first twin-girl, Suzanne, was due. Fortunately for all, the crew arrived right in time for Leah, the second baby, delivery as she was in the breech position.

Mrs Alison Simonds, ambulance emergency call handler, said: «I could hear Mrs Townend screaming every now and again. I told Mr Townend to clear the baby’s airways and wrap her up warmly while they prepared for her sister’s arrival.»

Bryan admitted that he was relieved to have someone experienced to cope with second delivery. His wife said he had been wonderful though: «Bryan is a real brick and coped amazingly well.»

Afterwards both mum and the couple’s first babies were delivered to Oveston General Infirmary for recovery where Leah suffered serious complications.

Mr Townend currently keeps vigil near little Leah bedside, whilst first twin girl Suzanne and her mum have been able get back home.

«It is a very worrying time for the family. We hope she will pull through,» said Megan.

Fire alert in a public house in Sheffield

False fire incident occurred earlier today in the Golden Gate public house, Sheffield.

Chief Fire Officer Harry Webb received a report about smoke being emitted from a cupboard in the main bar area. «Firefighters found a ventilation shaft located behind the cupboard had become blocked by debris,'» he said. It turned out to be a crack in the shaft, resulting in fumes escaping through it from the kitchen. Mrs Fiona Brown, the pub’s manageress, had to evacuate the pub and customers waited until the crew gave the all clear.

Sudden but happy home birth in Newshire

Bryan Townend, 28, helped his wife to give birth to twin girls in their living room on Wednesday night in Oveston, Newshire.

Wife Megan, a former Miss Oveston United, went into unexpected labour straight at home having contractions every few minutes. When a first baby began to appear, new father Bryan could do nothing but to deliver the girl on his own.

“I was actually on the phone calling for an ambulance when a baby began to appear. I had no choice but to help Megan – but I was glad when the paramedics arrived,” he said.

Ambulance crew had been consulting Bryan through the phone while the first twin-girl was due. Fortunately for all, the crew arrived right in time for the second baby delivery, as she was in the breech position.

Newborn girls, Suzanne and Leah, and their mother are now recovering in Oveston General Infirmary. Said Bryan: «The babies are gorgeous — just like their mum.»
